COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Picture
In response to various community needs, Greater Houston Development, Inc. has initiated or helped create a number of community-based partnerships and initiatives in northeast Houston including:

NORTHEAST BEYOND 2000 – a community-driven planning initiative for Northeast Houston. This great community is 5 minutes driving time from Downtown Houston off Hwy. 59 North immediately outside 610 North Loop East.  In 1999, according to the City of Houston's Planning Department Socio-Economic Report prepared for NEB 2000, the targeted area encompasses over 19,000 acres of land with over 50% undeveloped or underdeveloped.

Northeast Beyond 2000′s first phase of the plan was published in February, 2011 with the assistance of I Am Pleased Consultants. We have conducted over 200 community meetings and events to obtain input and primary data for the plan.

Northeast Beyond 2000 is a partnership between local civic clubs, churches, businesses, Houston Community College – Northeast, City of Houston - Planning Department, other stakeholders, and City of Houston - Super Neighborhoods 47 – E. Little York/Homestead, 48 – Trinity/Houston Gardens and 49/50 – E. Houston/Settegast.  Local churches participating include (but not limited to): Bethany Baptist Church, Forest Lawn MBC, Free Indeed Church, Friendship Baptist Church, Greater Oak Grove MBC, House of Faith Church, Mt. Caanan MBC, Solid Rock MBC, Sweet Home Baptist Church, and Trinity Gardens Church of Christ.  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=519640835#!/pages/Northeast-Beyond-2000/133330103429088
